TRIM SHEET WORK
These models are the result of a study on trim sheets. Trim Sheets were something I've been wanting to explore for a while now. I started by doing some visual research into trim sheets in games and classic examples of it. I settled pretty quickly on crates and explored a weathered, stylized look.
I started by making a simple trim sheet in Maya and then baking in Substance Designer. I then made a simple crate mesh and started experimenting with applying the sheet to it.
I refrained from texturing and just used the ambient occlusion map to get a rough idea of what I wanted the crate to look like. This was quite an iterative process and I frequently went back to change my bake. Once I was happy with the results I brought the trim sheet in Substance Painter and textured it.
I then brought the models and textures into UE4 and set up the material. I then made a simple outline sahder to compliment the style of the assets.
